Etsy

Etsy sales have been steady in both shops. Many custom orders! I love those, they give me a challenge! I have many original designs in my handmade shop on etsy When I say original (OOAK) I mean it! I tend not to copy down patterns, I just go with it! Usually turns out pretty darn good! Many people complain about sales, views, etc. Etsy (or any other venue for that matter) is nothing more than a place for you to open shop. It is up to you the seller to promote, advertise and make your shop appealing. If you don't take the time, why should anyone else? with millions of sellers out there why should buyers come to you? Not a blogger or twitter person? Then run an ad in the paper, leave a business card with tips, talk it up! advertise yourself!

ETSY sales

I was going through the sales in both my shops and I think I'm doing pretty good. I don't think I'll be making the house payment any time soon but I'm staying out of trouble! In the past 6 months ( that's when I started selling) I've had 47 sales. These items have been shipped to 22 different states and two countries (Portugal and Canada). I've had more sales in the vintage shop than my hand made shop, although I've had this shop longer. Sewing patterns are the biggest seller. I think if I did more advertising (free) the sales would be higher.

And This Will Stop When??

I use to sleep like a rock. Nothing could wake me up! I don't sleep any more. I want to but it's not happening! This morning I was up and doing laundrey at 3:30am. That's just not right. I guess the up side is I do get much more done in a day!
I've been working on some great new projects and can't wait to get them listed! I think I'm going to also try ARTFIRE. It's such a clean and organized site. I hope to do well. I will post some new pictures when I get them.I worked in my Etsy shop this morning also. Check out the winter sale in my smmak2 shop, great deals for you or next years gift giving!

Ashley Kane who works at about.com asked if she could use one of my items on the site! Very exciting! Stuff like that usually happens to other people! I said yes so hopefully it'll bring more traffic to my etsy shops!

today's the day

Well today's the day to start a blog.....

I've been putting it off, why I'm not sure, but here goes!
I've been incredibly busy lately...setting up shop on ETSY.com. It's been a fun experience.
Etsy is a place for people to set up a shop for a minimal fee and display their craftiness and/ or sell vintage items. Well being me I can't just stick to one thing....busy brain!!
I now have two shops www. smmak.etsy.com and www.smmak2.etsy.com

Let me tell you what SMMAK stands for...quite easy really! It's the first letter in all of our names! Shannon Mark Mark Alex Kathie....And the number 2 well I wasn't feelin' to creative!! And a lot easier to remember!!
